About Us

Coastal Virginia Building Industry Association is a local not-for-profit trade organization representing more than 500 companies in Southeastern Virginia involved with all aspects of the residential building industry. It is affiliated with the Home Builders Association of Virginia and the National Association of Home Builders.



CVBIA has worked tirelessly on behalf of its members to protect the integrity of the shelter industry. It has saved members - and ultimately homeowners - countless dollars over the decades by:

*Introducing legislation to protect housing availability and affordability for thousands of local homeowners;
*Lobbying against costly and unfair fees and regulations;
*Implementing programs that provide services at competitive rates; and
*Providing educational forums to promote new housing, new products and new services to area consumers, improving their lifestyles.

CVBIA members range from home builders to electricians to mortgage bankers to apartment property managers, and they employ more than 20,000 local residents. To contact a member, please visit the Member Directory on this site.

CVBIA is also a good citizen of Southeastern Virginia, contributing to the community through its Scholarship Foundation, which has awarded close to $1.9 million in grants to high school students since it was founded in 1965.

The association is perhaps best known for its annual Homearama and Mid-Atlantic Home & Outdoor Living Show, two events that highlight new and exciting housing products and services.
